Abilene Childcare Learning Center is an early childhood program. We are looking for highly dedicated, dependable and enthusiastic early childhood teacher assistants.
This position is working 3-4 days, 8-10 - hour shifts (one day off during the week if close to 40 hours) as an assistant/floater which entails working in between the hours of 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (give or take) if all teaching/orientation requirements have been met. Must be able to take direction well, be flexible and work as a team. Must have6 month work experience in childcare in order to qualify as an independent teacher in the classroom.
The center provides early childhood care and education programs for children of:
- Early Head Start Students
- DCF accepted
- Staff Children and
- Community Families
ACLC is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and can serve children ages 2 weeks to 12 years full day, Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
The person in this key position will help facilitate care and curriculum for children 0 to 5 years old. If scheduled to float, is responsible for building chores and staff breaks. Applicant must be dependable and dedicated, have a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, and have the ability to relate to and communicate well with parents and staff.
This position requires teaching skills in all areas and have the capability to lead activities for children. You must possess a love for teaching and creativity.
You must ensure a clean, safe environment for all children in attendance.
You must communicate with lead staff, support staff, parents, program directors and administrator regarding issues that concern students.
This position requires substantial contact with children, parents, and other staff in order to facilitate a safe, educational, and stimulating environment.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
All teachers must meet licensing requirements, complete 16 hours of required annual trainings. Have current certification or obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass KBI/fingerprinting, national background checks, and TB skin test.
-Have a GED or high school diploma.
- 18 years or older
- Prefer some early childhood education college hours
- Ability to lift/move items up to 40 pounds unassisted on a repetitive basis.
