Job Summary
Position Overview
You operate and monitor power generation stations to deliver reliable electrical service to oil and gas operations. You focus on safe, efficient operation of generators, assist with maintenance and troubleshooting, and support powerline infrastructure as needed. You report to the Field Operations Manager.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5 years in oil & gas field operations
(facilities, natural gas, generation stations, or similar environments)
- 5 years working with automatic controls and HMIs
- 5 years experience around low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems
- 5 years experience with process gas flow systems
(pressure, flow, control valves, regulators, PSVs, instrumentation, etc.)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to learn new systems and procedures
- Strong safety awareness and judgment; stops work when conditions are unsafe
- Team-focused and adaptable to changing operational needs
- Ability to read and interpret:
- P&IDs
- Electrical schematics, one-lines, and wiring diagrams
- Proficient with multimeters for electrical troubleshooting
Preferred Experience
- 5 years troubleshooting and maintaining large HP natural gas engines
(e.g., CAT, Cummins)
- Experience using:
- CAT SIS documentation
- CAT ET diagnostic software
- Engine tuning experience using combustion and emissions analyzers
(e.g., Bacharach ECA/PCA systems)
Key Responsibilities
- Operate generators safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with vendors and technicians during maintenance or troubleshooting
- Start, stop, and monitor generators as required
- Maintain clean, orderly, and compliant locations
(trash, debris, gates, signage, weather damage, fuel gas systems, oil and coolant systems)
- Monitor environmental conditions and prevent spills or contamination
- Maintain accurate generator and maintenance records
(leaks, vibrations, abnormal sounds, service needs)
- Manage spare parts inventory and initiate reorders
- Respond to call-outs and work overtime when required
- Participate in operational reviews and improvement discussions
- Follow all safety policies and complete required safety training
(e.g., NFPA 70E)
- Drive and operate vehicles in compliance with all laws
