What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cad Designer position at Actalent?
Description:
We are seeking a 2D Designer to join their team in Pensacola. The Designer will support heavy industrial projects (power plants, concrete companies, refineries, recycling plants, etc.). Some examples of design projects they will support are electrostatic precipitators, air handling equipment, industrial size mechanical components, stiffened platework, steel support structures, conveyors, large scale duct work, etc.
Duties include:
- Create drawings for mechanical componentry, stiffened platework, support steel, and access.
- Generate field erection and shop fabrication detail drawings
- Design and/or detail connections based upon engineer provided input.
- Analyze specifications, design data, sketches, and related engineering drawings.
- Confer with engineering and design staff to assist in resolving design issues.
- Check field erection and shop drawings generated by others.
- Some travel required, no more than (2-6) trips per year, with each trip being about (2-3) nights away.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- AutoCAD proficiency in 2D design is required. Must have at least 2 years of 2D AutoCAD experience.
- Experience in one of the following 3D Modeling is a plus: Advance Steel, Graitec, Tekla, Inventor, or equivalent 3D BIM Modeling.
- Ability to detail connections based upon engineer provided input.
- Must be willing to do site surveys and equipment inspections, including confined spaces. Ability to obtain field measurements, climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
