Civil Designer

Description:

This civil consulting firm has an immediate need for a Civil CAD Technician to join their team.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaborate with projects engineers on design activities.

- Support CAD specialists with 2D and 3D designs.

- Prepare engineering drawings for construction.

- Assist with quantity take-offs.

- GIS figure development.

- Preparing water & wastewater construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

- Working with Civil Project Engineers and Project Managers on design activities related to water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems

- Preparing report figures for projects

- Assisting in field work when needed (construction inspection and oversight, surveying)

- Supporting other related engineering and design needs as they arise

PROJECTS

This firm is a civil engineering consulting firm that specializes in Water and Wastewater Treatment design. They work with a variety of different cities, towns and communities across Indiana and the Crown Point office works with clients in NW Indiana. They primarily design Water Distribution Systems (Facilities/Plants/Pipe Networks) and Wastewater Collection Systems (Facilities/Plants/Pipe Networks). All of these projects are for Municipal Clients (cities and towns throughout Indiana) and are either rehabilitation projects or brand new construction projects of water systems or wastewater systems. They also do a small amount of road design projects for their clients.

HOURS

Standard work week is M-Th 7:00AM to 5:00PM and 7:00AM-11:00AM on Friday Also the person can work 8:00AM to 5:00PM M-F. Average week is 44-45 hours.

TRAINING

Training will be provided in this position, but candidates must be proficient in AutoCAD. The training will mostly be around the water/wastewater aspect of the job and the Civil 3D software.

LOCATION - onsite office

This firm is open to having qualified candidates sit out of any of their offices (Indy South, Indy North, Evansville, Ft. Wayne, Crown Point). The person will be tied to the Indy South office and primarily working on projects for the Indy South office.

AUTOCAD & CIVIL/SURVEY Functions

• Be able to XRef

• Know the difference between Model Space and Paper Space

• Know basic CAD functions: Copy, Mirror, Align, Polyline/Line...etc.

• Be able to import data from other files, i.e. survey points, PDFs

• Draw to scale - Create Text

• Follow Legal Descriptions/Create Legal Descriptions

• Understand the evolution of a drawing - Existing Conditions to Proposed Plans

• Understand and be able to address comments from drawing reviewers

• Set up sheets to publish - both as PDF and to plot

• Help prepare drawings for submittal from a check list

• Correct red-line markups
