Civil Engineer - Water/Wastewater Systems

Job Description

This is an opportunity to develop specialized skills within the Water Treatment scope of municipal engineering, through Actalent.

This company is looking for a Civil Engineer that specializes in water and wastewater treatment system projects. You will join the Grand Rapids Municipal Water Systems team and collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and project managers. Work will encompass a variety of drinking water and wastewater treatment plant projects as well as water distribution mains, piping systems, pump stations, and sanitary stations. Your role will involve design, planning, and engineering for both public and private projects. You will work both independently and in a team environment under the supervision of a lead engineer or project manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Water and wastewater engineering
• Design, layout, and modeling for water and wastewater systems
• Support for permit and funding application
• Preparation of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates
• Water and sewer hydraulic modeling
• Assisting with construction observation and monitoring of construction phase activities.

Top Skills

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
• EIT / FE, working towards PE License
• 1 years of experience with design of municipal water or wastewater treatment projects
• Experience with AutoCAD for civil design projects

Work Environment

You will be part of a multi-discipline, full-service organization within the engineering industry that has project variety within multiple sectors including municipal, transportation, industrial/commercial, and private development. We have offices across the state of Michigan, offering the ability to work at a local office with a day remote.
