Description:
Our client is a SWaM environmental firm who is currently looking for an Civil/Environmental Engineer to join their team in the Newport News, VA area! This firm specializes in environmental planning, permitting and compliances services in support of energy, infrastructure and waterfront projects within the Mid-Atlantic region. The Environmental/Civil Engineer will be overseeing engineering staff, directing cad standards, implementing QA/QC, revising plan development, leading field reviews, E&S and stormwater calculation design. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- leading or assisting field data collection and surveys
- erosion and sediment control planning
- stormwater planning and design
- wetland and waters permitting
- culvert design (structure that channels water past an obstacle or to a subterranean waterway)
- report writing
- drafting/plan design
- conducting regular inspections of active land disturbing activities in accordance with the Construction General Permit (CGP) under the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP)
Skills & Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience within environmental/civil engineering
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (environmental or civil is preferred)
- proficiency in engineering and environmental science consulting practices as they relate to: erosion and sediment control planning, stormwater design, hydrology, wetland and waters permitting, site plan development, traffic control planning, NPDES permitting and construction compliance (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System)
- Experience with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D is preferred)
Virginia DEQ Certified Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Plan Reviewer certified, or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
Virginia DEQ Certified Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspector certified, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
