Entry Level Engineer - Electrical Distribution Design

Job Description

This Engineer/Designer will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for overhead distribution systems for utility customers. The role involves improving the system reliability by replacing or upgrading old equipment. The candidate will review client-provided work and assess the requirements of the scopes.

Responsibilities

• Develop design and construction work packages for overhead distribution systems.
• Review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements.
• Conduct field work involving photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits.
• Create designs using Open Utilities CAD system.
• Perform energy analysis to ensure material selection meets site requirements.
• Create bills of materials (BOM) using SAP/Material Tracking Software.
• Assist with obtaining necessary permits for utility lines.
• Complete and submit electrical construction packages for approval.
• Use software like Poleforman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis of wood poles.
• Ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC) in designs and material selection.
• Collaborate with Quality Control approvers for necessary revisions.
• Communicate frequently with clients via email, phone, and Teams.

Essential Skills

• Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CAD Design, or Engineering Technology Degree.
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, MicroStation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
