What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firmware Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
This position will design, implement, and debug firmware and test automation for real-time embedded microcontrollers for lock security devices while simultaneously meeting schedule and quality objectives. This individual will work closely with Engineers in development that sit on site in Lexington and remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Defines and develops solution for disconnected and connected embedded systems based on market and technical requirements
- Develops automated test solutions to validate existing and new product functionality
- Responsible for design, development, and test of embedded firmware code as well as providing support for manufacturing processes,
- Problem solving and debugging firmware related issues in a time efficient manner,
- Evaluate and propose alternatives for microcontroller/microprocessor and related components
- Documents firmware/software design, testing, etc.
- Participates in hardware and embedded software designs and reviews
- Supports and collaborates with Software, Q/A, Systems, Electrical, and Cloud Engineers
Qualifications:
Must Have
- Degree CS/EE or equivalent
- 2 years firmware design, code and test
- Experience with C programming and C (nice to have)
- Experience with Object oriented programming
- Experience using microcontrollers (ie STM, ARM, TI)
- Experience working within a real time operating system (ie FreeRTOS)
Nice to Have:
- Python scripting for automation
- Experience with CAN, PCI, LAN
- UNIX or Linux, Windows
- LabVIEW, TestStand, Pytest
