What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Actalent?
Description:
The Sample Technician will work closely with both the Flavors & Applications sides of our R&D team to ensure that all samples are compounded, packed, and shipped in a timely manner will maintain organization within the labs for efficient sample turnaround. The candidate will also assist with internal projects, including applications, demo configuration for customer presentations, and organoleptic evaluations of flavors and presentations.
• Pack and label flavor samples that will be shipped to customers
• Ship finished goods and prototype samples to customers
• Compounds and blends flavor products as needed for day-to-day functions and sampling
• Maintains laboratory equipment, collects samples, and performs physical and sensory tests
• Effectively and efficiently executes lab projects as assigned
• Engages in sensory support for the R&D and quality team as needed
• Assists quality team in evaluation and approval of raw materials and finished goods
• Collaboratively works with operations, regulatory, quality, sales and marketing personnel
• Organizes and maintains new raw material samples in manageable inventory from vendors and suppliers
• Executes flavor formula entry in Sage X3 and Product Vision software
• Maintains lab inventory
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment, following housekeeping protocols
• Supports product development and applications team in tastings, sharing feedback and creative ideas for concepts
• Supports applications team in demo development and execution as needed
• Reports any food safety problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Upholds and demonstrates stated BFI values with respect to all job responsibilities.
