Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

The Lab Technician will be responsible for basic wet chemistry bench sampling, including Bio Oxygen Samples, pH testing, tepidity, odor samples, and settable solids. The role involves working in a lab to test samples of primarily water and wastewater. On a normal day, Lab Technicians will conduct 60-100 micro tests, and during the busiest season, this number can exceed 150 samples.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic wet chemistry bench sampling, including Bio Oxygen Samples, pH testing, tepidity, odor samples, and settable solids.
• Perform 60-100 micro tests per day, with potential to exceed 150 tests during peak seasons.
• Rotate weekly tasks between DOB (Wet Chem), Back T Room (Basic Chem Analysis), Micro Room, and floater duties.
• Order supplies as needed.
• Maintain a fast-paced work environment.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory techniques, particularly water testing and wet chemistry.
• Experience with pH testing and bench wet chemistry.
• Knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and analytical chemistry.
• Quality assurance and quality control experience.
• Data entry and sample management skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry, Biology or a related science field.
• 0-2 years of experience in a relevant field.

Work Environment

The position is full-time, working from Sunday to Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional coverage needed for others during vacations. The role may involve working alone in the lab on Saturdays and Sundays. The lab environment is fast-paced and not necessarily quiet or controlled. Rotating holidays throughout all lab personnel.
