Actalent is an engineering services and consulting firm, specializing in work and talent solutions to help our customers get work done. We are currently looking to hire a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support a manufacturing client site in the Portland/Vancouver area.
Description:
This Mechanical Designer/Drafter will be performing process plant design layout and interconnections using AutoCAD and/or Inventor. They will work on creating and modifying P&ID's, plant design layout and interconnections of process equipment. This person will be converting project information (specifications, proposal information, data sheets) into drawings and other documentation for the fabrication team to produce a product / system); creating new systems or making modifications to existing systems. This position works alongside Engineers in the design and production of drawings for various process equipment before and after installations.
While in collaboration with the engineering team, performing a variety of drafting and design assignments in connection with process P&ID's, electrical and mechanical layout drawings, they will also be responsible for creating 3D pipe routes and piping isometric drawings, along with being responsible for associated BOM's.
Types of systems may include pumps, valves, heat exchangers, homogenizers, separators, fillers, conveyor systems, instrumentation/controls, casers and other packaging and processing equipment that go into industrial facilities.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ideally a 2-year Associates degree in Drafting, Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar; other technical training in drafting and design may suffice
- 1 years of on the job relatable experience
- Proficiency in 3D modeling/CAD tools - Inventor preferred, but SolidWorks or similar will be considered; AutoCAD experience additionally helpful
- Experience modifying and/or creating P&ID's, piping, plant, process, and/or fabrication drawings is required
- This person should come from a design/build, fabrication, and/or consulting design firm background
- Understanding of GD&T and process flow are bonuses
