What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Lab Technician position at Actalent?
DESCRIPTION:
Able to carry out all quality control testing in the laboratory to ensure the company’s products are in compliance with established specifications using the following instrumentation:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lab techniques used: Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Infra-red Spectrophotometer, pH analysis, Karl Fischer Water Determination, FTIR, Residue after evaporation testing, Fluorescents testing, Optical absorption
- Utilize analytical techniques and instrumentation such as Gas Chromatography( GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Spectroscopy (IR and UV) to analyze samples
- Utilize wet chemistry methods to analyze samples
- Review, interpret and summarize data
- Record analytical results utilizing good documentation practices
- Communicate effectively within the QC team and with cross-functional teams
- Set up daily standards, daily KF calibrations and special purpose laboratory equipment to test products
- Plan a sequence for testing of incoming samples
- Play an active role in the quality management team within the organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer Bachelors degree in Hard Science preference towards Chemistry or Biochemistry (Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, with chemistry experience from school would also qualify)
- Can be entry level but prefer candidates with an internship or strong chemistry lab work in school
- Candidates with an associates in Science with 1year of industry chemistry experience would also qualify
- Candidates without a degree with 2-3 years of recent industry experience in a chemistry laboratory setting with a HS diploma would also be a fit
- Strong attention to detail, able to follow procedures and test methods
- Need to be comfortable working often on their own
