Position Summary
Plan and run sensory tests and assisting sessions:
Administer sensory and consumer tests following the Sensory Specialist's/Scientist's and Senior Technician instructions and according to best practices (build session in sensory software, prepare and code samples, provide samples to panelists).
Manage products under tests (procurement, storage and disposal)
Contribute to checking panel data and to build results report.
Schedule, plan and execute informal tastings including product preparation, ballot development and reporting. Have a clear understanding of the tasting procedures, methodologies and proper product preparation procedures.
Participate in informal tasting to provide guidance as needed.
Responsible for the complete oversight of all acuity testing requirements for discrimination panel recruitment including on boarding, providing general lab orientation, lab set-up, and maintaining records of monthly attendance, performance and administration of information/feedback (report cards, etc.).
Assist in the training and management of sensory panels
Screen, train and monitor performance of internal and external panels (or provide support on those activities).
Maintain records of external panel attendance, performance, and administers panels information.
Assist in some analysis and reporting of sensory results:
Use appropriate sensory software for the data acquisition and analysis of data.
Summarize and report some results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Sciences (Food Science preferred)
Experience in sensory laboratory management is a plus.
Technical training in scientific or food-related field is a plus.
Experience:
1. Core knowledge of the 10 Principles and expert knowledge in our areas of responsibility.
2. Knowledge of the different sensory evaluation methodologies, procedures and processes
3. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency related to safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices.
4. Focus on Product and Quality
5. Good interpersonal/teamwork skills
6. Computer-literate (MS-Office and dedicated sensory software)
7. Local language and basic level of English (written and oral)
