Job Title: Sr. Sensory Specialist


Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Sensory Specialist with a Bachelor's degree in sciences, preferably in Food Science, and essential experience in lab work and sensory testing. The successful candidate will conduct a gap analysis on our current process, identify training needs, determine standardized processes, and write guidance/how-to documents to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Assess capabilities and global best practices by evaluating all aspects of EyeQuestion software along with best practices and training materials provided by the global team.
  • Understand the local ISI team’s current work processes and needs by assessing current habits and usage of the EyeQuestion software, and understanding the team’s existing workflows, processes, test types, and needs related to sensory software.
  • Determine best practices and standardized processes by identifying and defining procedures that reflect global best practices and meet the needs of the team.
  • Write comprehensive and user-friendly guidance/how-to documents to guide team members in using the software platform effectively and consistently, including training materials, step-by-step instructions, and best practices.
  • Provide user support and coaching as the ISI team expert on EyeQuestion, offering individualized support for ISI team projects, including data entry, programming, and guidance on project setup and analysis following established best practices.

Essential Skills

  • 5 years of experience working in sensory science or a related field.
  • Prior experience with sensory software platforms (e.g. EyeQuestion, Compusense, RedJade).
  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques used in sensory science and statistical software programs (e.g. XLSTAT, R).
  • Strong analytical skills to understand software capabilities, assess training needs, and evaluate workflows.
  • Excellent written communication skills for creating clear and concise documentation.
  • Ability to self-manage and break down assignments into key steps and milestones for successful completion and delivery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Core knowledge of the 10 Principles and expert knowledge in relevant areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of different sensory evaluation methodologies, procedures, and processes.
  • Proficiency related to safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Focus on product and quality.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS-Office and dedicated sensory software).
  • Local language proficiency and basic level of English (written and oral).
  • Experience in sensory laboratory management is a plus.
  • Technical training in scientific or food-related fields is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
