Description:
This Supplier Quality engineer opening in West Lafayette, IN, will give you the opportunity to join a team that will manufacture the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. When at full capacity by 2027, Saab will employ over 250 employees in the West Lafayette facility in management, administration, and manufacturing. Over the last two years, this manufacturer has added over 100 people to the team. Currently, being awarded a 10 year contract worth 9 billion to support the T7A Trainer Jet assembly and is expected to produce 351 aircrafts over the next 10 years. Production is expected to start in 2023.
Their biggest customer is Boeing and once they hit full production they will have 2-3 onsite Boeing reps daily. This candidate will be responsible for managing and being the primary point of contact for Boeing. They will be planning, coordinating, tracking open quality items and reporting those daily to Boeing. This will require really strong communication skills and issue resolution. The primary expectation is to eliminate escape which is when product leaves the facility with errors. 20% of their time will be with Boeing personnel and 80% supporting the planning and quality interfacing of production.
Responsibilities
- Develop Boeing In-Process Inspection procedures and roles for the T7 program.
- Act as the lead Saab representative on the West Lafayette T7 BSQ team.
- Coordinate generation and closure of Verification Rejection Documents (VRD) in Boeing Supplier Quality Information System (SQIS).
- Track exit criteria of inspections.
- Lead problem resolution team for Notice of Escapes (NOE) from Boeing.
- Monitor and analyze risk while preparing risk mitigation plans with root cause analysis and systemic problem solving.
- Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support.
- Support other projects as assigned.
