What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at Actalent?
Description:
- Create and maintain technical manuals and training materials for customers on the operation and maintenance of built aerostat systems and their supporting equipment.
- This individual shall be able to write technical documentation, development plans and organize technical documentation development efforts.
- This position requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, in order to maintain contact and work effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside parties.
- The Technical Writer must work effectively in a team environment, interfacing with a group of technical writers to complete technical documentation development with minimal supervision.
- The individual shall have experience with developing documentation in MIL-STD's (Army specific) 40051 C or D.
- Experience with S-1000D should have that or exposure/knowledge of it.
- If someone has no Arbortext experience, it can take up to a year to train the individual and they can’t afford to fall behind and take the time to train from scratch.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or Business Management discipline. Military (DoD) training and/or experience is a plus.
- The candidate shall have a minimum of five years technical writing experience, attention to detail and familiar with industry used/recognized publications and training standards.
- Experience with technical writing in XML and/or Arbortext, is a plus. *Must have experience in MIL-STD 400051 C or D.
- States that people can be located are Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida.
This position is 100% remote but would require for the candidate to be onsite in either Elizabeth City, NC or Columbia, MD for one week and the company itself will pay for you to visit their office location.
