Transportation - CDL Bus Drivers

We are seeking a skilled Bus Driver for a local Christian School whose mission statement is to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God’s world. It is the Driver’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
Bus and Van Drivers report to the Transportation Coordinator are responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students for morning pickups, afternoon drop offs, and school sponsored field or athletic trips. Drivers are expected to maintain a professional demeanor, ensure student safety, and adhere to all local, state, and school-specific regulations and procedures. Bus Drivers must hold and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements in accordance with state and local requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Route Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled morning and afternoon routes as assigned throughout the school year.
- Adheres to all designated route stops.
- Uses safe driving practices at all times.
Pre-Trip Inspections
- Conducts a full pre-drive safety check before each trip.
- Completes and submits the designated Check Sheet to the Transportation Coordinator prior to departure.
Trip & Event Transportation
- Assists with driving responsibilities for field trips, athletic events, and other school-sponsored activities throughout the year.
- Follow all safety and supervision protocols during trips.
Student Supervision and Discipline
- Enforces all established rules for student conduct on buses and vans during all routes and trips.
- Maintains discipline to ensure a safe environment.
- Reports all student behavior or discipline concerns in writing to the Transportation Coordinator promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
- A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church.
- A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education along with a desire to lead students in the development of a Christian worldview.
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith.
- Possesses the ability to demonstrate a philosophy of Christian education and personal faith aligned with the mission and Statement of Belief of Bradenton Christian School.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with administration, parents, students, faculty, and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid FL driver’s license and a clean driving record required.
