For the Adams Kitchen Assistant Manager, this means helping to lead and support all aspects of daily Adams Kitchen operations—assisting with food preparation and presentation, guiding team members in producing high-quality prepared foods, supporting workflows, and ensuring a positive and efficient customer experience while working toward departmental goals.
Your Day-to-Day
- Support daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, product rotation, and customer service
- Assist in managing kitchen production planning, special orders, and seasonal menu offerings for both retail and catering needs
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring team compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
- Help create and manage team schedules, aligning staffing with business needs and labor goals
- Respond to customer feedback and resolve concerns to ensure satisfaction and uphold Adams’ reputation for exceptional service
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients while minimizing waste
- Proactively assist to resolve operational challenges such as staffing or supply shortages
- Accurately review timecards and support payroll accuracy, working with the Adams Kitchen Manager to stay within payroll goals
- Help guide new team members and provide consistent training and development to support performance and growth
- If assigned, participate in interviewing candidates, coaching staff, and supporting performance conversations to align department goals
- Maintain visibility on the floor—check in with team members, reinforce priorities, and ensure high-quality operations throughout the day
- Keep organized records of inventory, compliance logs, and team communications to support smooth, efficient kitchen operations
What you bring to the Farm
- Two or more years of management experience in a kitchen, prepared foods, or other food retail setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to demonstrate, encourage, and set the example of Adams’ culture and values
- Skills in using Windows-based software and communication platforms to efficiently manage tasks, share information, and support team collaboration
- Commitment to exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality
Working Conditions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to manage varying business demands
- Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, mixers, and food processors necessary to operate the department
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for duration of shift
- Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift
- Effectively communicate with others to exchange information in a fast-paced environment
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in tight and confined spaces
- Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and cardboard

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions – including skill sets, experience, training, certifications and other business needs.
A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour. At Adams, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation.
