The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness initiatives, and retirement plans. This role ensures employees are well-supported in navigating their benefit options, while maintaining compliance and data accuracy. The position also plays a vital role in communicating benefit updates and partnering with external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer day-to-day operations of benefit plans including health, ancillary, and wellness programs
- Customer facing with strong follow-up and excellent service delivery
- Support employees with benefits-related questions, enrollment, and claims assistance
- Maintain accurate benefit records and eligibility data within HR systems
- Monitor and ensure compliance with ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations
- Assist in annual open enrollment planning, communication, and execution
- Review and audit benefit invoices and process payments in a timely manner
- Serve as liaison between the company and third-party vendors or carriers
- Track and evaluate benefit usage, costs, and participation trends
- Develop internal benefit communications including emails, flyers, and newsletters
- Assist in the administration and compliance of 401(k) plans, including audits and eligibility
- Collaborate with the Senior Leave & Benefits Specialist for cross-functional support
- Participate in benefit plan evaluations and recommend enhancements or cost-saving changes
- Conduct employee training and education sessions on benefit offerings
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in benefits administration or related HR function
- Working knowledge of health & welfare and retirement benefits
- Previous experience focusing on 401K programs
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Prior experience with HRIS systems and vendor management
- Hybrid schedule may be available based on client needs
- Reports to the HR department; will work closely with employees at all levels
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

- Only one day required in office
