Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to partner with plant leadership to promote a proactive safety culture by identifying and eliminating hazards before incidents occur. Assists the Safety Manager with implementing and maintaining policies in accordance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Safety Manager with reviewing, revising, and implementing safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Partner with operations and other plant functions to review work practices and recommend changes to reduce risk.
Direct the plant’s incident reporting and investigation processes, including root cause analysis, corrective action assignment, and tracking to closure.
Develop and deliver monthly safety training to all associates; review and improve training programs for effectiveness and compliance.
Conduct specialized safety training and evaluate training effectiveness.
Perform routine audits and inspections to ensure compliance with corporate safety programs and regulatory safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing setting (including assembly/machine shop).
Supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced facility.
Undergraduate degree or prior experience in safety is a plus.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
CPE, CSP, or CIH certification is a plus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Ability to sit or stand as needed; walk primarily on level surfaces throughout the day.
Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, and lifting required for filing or storing materials. Proper lifting techniques required. May lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection).
Primary environment includes ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment.
