What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Auditor position at Affinity Gaming?
SUMMARY:
As an Internal Auditor, your role involves conducting audit fieldwork in areas such as Gaming, SOX, AML, and Operational audits. Additionally, you will support the Senior Internal Auditors and the Director of Internal Audit in the preparation, reporting, and follow-up phases of audits. This position requires 25% travel to properties located in Nevada, Iowa, and Missouri.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct audit fieldwork in accordance with established audit plans and industry regulations.
- Gather and analyze relevant data, financial statements, and operational processes.
- Verify compliance with gaming regulations, internal policies, and external laws.
- Maintain detailed and organized audit workpapers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Document findings, observations, and recommendations in clear and concise audit reports.
- Effectively communicate with different departments and personnel during audit engagements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address audit-related concerns and implement improvements.
- Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and process improvements.
- Stay updated on relevant gaming regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assist in the development of compliance programs.
- Assist in monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Stay informed about changes in auditing standards and methodologies.
- Participate in training programs to enhance auditing skills and knowledge.
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information obtained during audits.
- Adhere to ethical standards and professional conduct in all audit activities.
- Be prepared for periodic travel to properties in and around Las Vegas and the Midwest for on-site audit activities.
- Prepare clear and concise audit reports for management, summarizing audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Utilize audit software and tools effectively to enhance audit efficiency and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required
- 2 years of prior internal audit work experience in the gaming industry required
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to effectively communicate in English
- Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures
- Prior experience with TeamMate auditing software preferred
- In the process of pursuing a relevant certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA)
- Registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board is required
- Ability to obtain a Missouri gaming license within 90 days of employment is required
