About AFC

The AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) is a nonprofit organization working to improve the lives of people living with or vulnerable to HIV, chronic health conditions, and housing instability. Through partnerships, policy work, housing initiatives, and health services, AFC advances access to care and wellness for communities across Illinois.

The Ryan White Program at AFC supports case managers, peer staff, and service providers delivering HIV care by offering comprehensive, responsive training and technical assistance. The Ryan White Training Specialist plays a central role in coordinating and supporting these efforts.

Position Overview

This role is an even mix of administrative coordination and training facilitation. We're looking for someone who is personable, highly organized, and eager to support both behind-the-scenes logistics and live training delivery. The role is fully remote, but requires occasional in-person meetings in Chicago—typically once per month. Familiarity with the local community is helpful.

Key Responsibilities

Training Coordination & Support

  • Maintain the Ryan White training calendar, including scheduling sessions and managing RSVPs

  • Support virtual training logistics, including launching sessions, supporting facilitators, and providing technical assistance

  • Prepare materials (PowerPoints, handouts), track attendance, and manage follow-up workflows after each training

  • Coordinate contracts and communications with external trainers and collaborators

  • Customize training content and format based on participant needs and staff input

  • Assist in developing a semi-annual training calendar with input from service providers, collaborators, and internal teams

Facilitation & Hosting

  • Confidently host or co-facilitate remote training sessions (primarily Tues–Thurs mornings)

  • Serve as the public-facing representative during live training events

  • Support special training requests and contribute to internal training delivery when needed

Data Entry, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Enter and analyze post-training evaluations to inform continuous improvement

  • Maintain records in learning management systems and other online platforms

  • Track completion of required training hours and certification compliance

  • Collaborate with teams to report training metrics to funders

  • Coordinate with other departments to share training data and insights

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Provide technical assistance and support to training participants, case managers, and peer staff

  • Collaborate with AFC teams to ensure seamless access to and promotion of training opportunities

  • Contribute to the Interdepartmental Training Workgroup and assist with shared training-related data tasks

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in agency-wide events and meetings, including AFC’s Annual Meeting and AIDS Run & Walk

  • Stay current on training trends and HIV care standards through reading, learning, and networking

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold organizational policies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services, public health, or education-related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to track, analyze, and report on data

  • Comfort facilitating online learning environments and engaging diverse adult learners

  • Familiarity with HIV-related services and training standards is helpful
