Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory General Engineer 001042801M to work in the AFNWC Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base near Albuquerque, NM. This position will serve as the Division Chief for the Nuclear Surety and Certification Division.

This position is an NH-0801-04, which has a typical 2024 salary range of $122,198 - $186,854.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Division Chief, Nuclear Surety and Certification and to lead all aspects for nuclear surety and certification for all air-delivered and ground weapon systems to include associated facilities and support equipment. This position serves as the lead principal facilitator and advisor to AFNWC/CC, PEO/SS, and other AF Organizations for the Nuclear Certification Program defined in AFI 63-125. The position is responsible for AFNWC’s #1 Mission Execution of Nuclear Surety and Certification throughout the United States Air Force and North Atlantic Treaty Organizations supporting the nuclear mission.

Candidates should have a strong background in professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques to effectively apply advanced engineering theories and practices across multiple weapon systems and platforms. Furthermore, the candidate will assess the impact of emerging technology on current systems and processes to formulate recommendations and solutions.

Duties

  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short- and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Nuclear Surety and Certification Division to including review and approval of all test plans / reports and surety assessments. Reviews all Nuclear Surety and Certification requirements and products.
  • Serves as a consultant and expert in engineering work involving the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles related to development or sustainment of systems related to nuclear certification. Provide expert advice to senior colleagues and / or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
  • U.S. CITIZENSHIP and SECRET Clearance with eligibility for TOP SECRET
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. Employee is expected to meet Continuous Acquisition Education requirements
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
