What are the responsibilities and job description for the ATI FLIGHT ATTENDANT position at Air Transport International?
Purpose:
The Flight Attendant shares with the flight crew the responsibility for the safety of passengers and crew as specified by Company policy and Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The Flight Attendant is responsible for ensuring aircraft cabin safety in enforcing these policies and regulations. Flight Attendants are trained to respond to any medical emergencies, threatening situations and irregular flight emergencies (mechanical issues, weather-related problems, other diversions) that may arise. The Flight Attendant provides meal and beverage services to passengers and to Flight Deck crewmembers. ATI Flight Attendant schedules generally are composed of trips of 13 days or longer.
Job Functions:
- Monitor cabin to ensure a safe, comfortable environment.
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages, and pick up used service items.
- Ensure crew and passengers' personal items are stowed properly in the overhead bins or under seats prior to closing main cabin door. Ensure pathways are clear to emergency exits, and that all equipment and supplies are secured for taxi, takeoff and landing.
- Observe company conduct regulations while on duty or when representing the company.
- Coordinate with other crewmembers assigned to the flight to assure a smooth operation with maximum efficiency.
- Ensure passengers are briefed regarding the following: smoking, location of emergency exits and seating requirements, use of oxygen, seatbelts, seatbacks, tray tables, aisle path lighting, and life preservers and rafts (as applicable). Following briefing announcements, check for compliance.
- Clean the aircraft cabin, including galleys and lavatories.
- Perform preflight security checks, emergency equipment checks, catering and commissary supply quantities, and appearance of the cabin. Report any discrepancies to the flight crew.
- Read company correspondence and ATI Intranet Flight Attendant section.
- Keep Flight Attendant manual updated and insert revisions.
- Attend yearly training.
- Observe company uniform regulations, which include no visible tattoos or multiple piercings.
- Make needed PAs.
- Prior to takeoff, report to the captain the following: correct number of passengers manifested onboard, and cabin ready for takeoff.
- Assist flight crew in manifesting passengers including any special information needed for international flights.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Captain of the flight.
- Act as Ground Security Coordinator, as required.
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to qualify and pass a US Government secret clearance in the event of CRAF activation.
- Three years of customer service experience.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Possession of a current US passport that allows travel throughout the world.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be available for assignment for trips of 13 days of duration or more.
Preferred Job Skills:
- Previous Flight Attendant experience preferred.
- Previous aviation industry experience also considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach.
- Ability to operate all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, using all necessary force and movements to move up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds of catering restock.
- Ability to sit on assigned jumpseat with seatbelt and shoulder straps securely fastened.
- Ability to climb flights of stairs to board aircraft.
- Ability to walk through airport concourses, and on airport tarmacs in inclement weather.
- Must have vision correctable to at least 20/40.
- Ability to shout commands for emergency evacuations.
- Ability to enunciate for P.A. announcements and be clearly understood for passenger briefings and communication
