Akkodis is seeking a Virtualization Resource for a Contract to Hire role with a client in Remote. We’re looking for an applicant with over 10 years of hands-on experience in VMware technologies, with strong expertise in VCF 9 as a primary requirement. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of NSX and a proven ability to design, implement, and manage end-to-end VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solutions.

Pay Range: $71-$73/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced VCF 9 NSX and vSphere Engineer to design, deploy, manage, and secure modern private cloud infrastructures using VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.
• This role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and operationally efficient environments that support traditional VMs, Kubernetes/containerized workloads (via vSphere Supervisor and vSphere Kubernetes Service), and AI/modern applications.
• You will serve as a subject matter expert in vSphere compute, NSX networking/security, and integrated VCF lifecycle management, ensuring high performance, compliance, and automation across on-premises and hybrid setups.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 instances, including management domains, workload domains, and stretched clusters.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize vSphere 9.0 environments: ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters (DRS, HA, vMotion), storage policies (vSAN integration), and Supervisor Services for Kubernetes workloads.
• Implement and manage NSX 9.0 (formerly NSX-T) for software-defined networking: logical switching/routing, micro-segmentation, distributed firewalls, load balancing, VPC constructs (native in vCenter/VCF), Geneve overlays, and centralized/distributed connectivity.
• Automate VCF deployments, upgrades, and day-2 operations using SDDC Manager, VCF Import (for brownfield NSX/vSAN integration), VCF Operations (fleet management, monitoring, health checks), and APIs/CLI.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, risk analysis, and troubleshooting across vSphere, NSX, and vSAN components; conduct regular health checks and remediation.
• Enable secure, compliant environments: apply hardening (e.g., FIPS mode, NSX security policies), micro-segmentation, encryption, RBAC, and auditing aligned with frameworks like NIST, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or DISA STIG.
• Support hybrid/multi-cloud integrations (e.g., HCX for workload mobility) and modern workloads: Windows containers, GPU-accelerated AI tasks, and reduced vMotion downtime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, DevOps, application owners) to translate requirements into infrastructure solutions; provide knowledge transfer, documentation, and training.
• Stay current with VCF 9.0 innovations (e.g., pre-installed NSX on ESXi hosts, live patching extensions, async Kubernetes releases, enhanced VPC automation) and contribute to best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

• 5 years in VMware technologies, with 2 years hands-on deploying/managing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 5.x/8.x/9.0 preferred).
• Proven expertise in large-scale vSphere environments (vSphere 7/8/9) and NSX (NSX-T/NSX 4.x/9).
• Experience with vSAN, vCenter, and integrated components in VCF.
