Description
Transports Children by driving a passenger van to and from school, maintaining a safe vehicle; instructing riders in safety procedures; responding to emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements emergency plans by notifying police and/or ambulance service; administering first-aid; initiating evacuation plan; comforting children; filing accident reports.
- May be asked to provide special event transportation by driving students, teachers, and parents as needed.
- Improves driving job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications and safety journals.
- Provides a safe vehicle by observing visual defects, checking operating systems including brakes, horn, windshield wipers, lights, emergency flasher.
- Maintains communications channels by verifying battery strength of cellular telephone; checking-in if delays or route changes are necessary.
- Transports children to school and back home by following the delivery route; monitoring children before continuing on route

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. Experience with driving passenger size van preferred.
Valid NC Driver’s License required. CDL driver preferred but not required.
