About Us: Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Innovations is a busy allergy clinic dedicated to providing exceptional care and relief to patients suffering from allergies, asthma, allergic skin conditions, and immune deficiency. We offer a range of services, including allergy testing, immunotherapy, and personalized treatment plans. We are seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our team and contribute to our mission of improving the lives of those affected by allergies. The ideal candidate would have medical office experience and be able and willing to jump into a busy, fast-paced environment.
We have two locations, in Kokomo and Westfield, Indiana. We are looking for a part-time candidate based at the Kokomo office who would also be willing to travel occasionally with the rest of our staff to the Westfield office when needed.
Job Description:
As a Medical Assistant in our allergy office, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our practice. You will work closely with our medical team to deliver outstanding patient care and support our mission of helping individuals manage their allergies and related conditions. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist physician in the examination and treatment of patients.
Obtain and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and allergy-related information.
Administer allergy tests, including skin prick testing and patch testing, as directed by physician.
Educate patients on allergy management, treatment plans, and medication administration.
Administer allergy shots and immunizations as directed by physicians.
Administrative Duties: Maintain electronic health records (EHR) accurately and confidentially.
Schedule appointments, manage patient files, and update medical records as necessary.
Answer phone calls, assist with patient inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service.
Handle insurance verification and billing tasks.
Clinical Support: Prepare and clean examination rooms before and after patient visits.
Clean and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
Assist with in-office procedures, such as allergy testing, spirometry, and immunotherapy injections.
Stock and order medical supplies as needed.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to provide seamless patient care.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the improvement of office processes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- For MAs: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is required
- Previous experience working in a medical office, particularly in allergy or immunology, is preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and allergy-related procedures is desirable.
