What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer/Technician position at Alloy Precision Technologies?
Responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Manufacturing Engineer or Technician works out how the product will be manufactured, managing KPIs and ensuring preventative actions are taken to maximize success and deliver high quality products/components. Work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion. Works under Director of Manufacturing Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations.
- Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs.
- Design fixtures and tooling for company tasks.
- Generate production documentation such as work/process instructions.
- Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required.
- Oversee installation of machinery and equipment.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout, removing waste from the processes.
- Organize plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time.
- Report down time and possible trends.
- Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities.
- Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements.
- Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and coordination of training.
- Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support and lead continuous improvement.
- Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients.
- Achieve goals within budget.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
- Other projects and responsibilities as required.

- Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Weld Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent work experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to move about the shop floor with a sense of urgency.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
While on the shop floor, you must wear safety glasses.
