Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department and serves as a key point of contact for employees regarding routine HR-related questions. This role supports core HR processes such as onboarding, employee records management leave and unemployment administration, benefits coordination, and compliance documentation. This position requires regular onsite presence at both the detox facility, and at corporate office.
Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day HR administrative and operational tasks in support of the HR Director
- Serve as primary point of contact for employee questions related to policies, employment status, leave, and general HR procedures
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential employee records in HR systems
- Coordinate onboarding processes, including preparing and collecting new hire paperwork, initiating background checks, assigning required training, and ensuring timely system access
- Assisting with new hire and annual benefits enrollment, qualifying life event changes, Open Enrollment and the distribution of employee education materials
- Support the offboarding processes, including documentation, system updates, and coordination with managers
- Complete employment and income verifications accurately and in a timely manner
- Process, review, and track paid leave applications in accordance with company policy and applicable state laws
- Review, complete, submit, and follow up on unemployment insurance requests
- Communicate with state agencies, third-party administrators, and internal stakeholders regarding unemployment claims and leave matters
- Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance-related requests
- Conduct and support internal investigations while ensuring fairness and legal compliance
- Coach and guide managers in handling performance issues, disciplinary actions, and workplace conflict
- Support managers in holding staff accountable to performance and behavioral standards
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws (e.g. FMLA, ADA, state-specific requirements)
- Champion a positive, equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive workplace
- Participate in HR projects and process improvements as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role
- Working knowledge of employment law, paid leave administration, and unemployment insurance processes
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, including ADP Workforce Now optimization and reporting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills across diverse populations
- Solid knowledge of federal and Minnesota employment laws
- High level of cultural competency and commitment to equity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, detox, or residential treatment settings
- Familiarity with state-specific paid leave and unemployment regulations
- Experience in a nonprofit, mission-driven, or multi-site organization
Work Environment & Travel
- Occasional travel to multiple sites throughout the Minneapolis area as needed
- May require occasional evening or weekend work for events or urgent matter
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary DOQ: $55,000-75,000
- Reports To: Human Resources Director
- Location: Onsite – Minneapolis, MN (3 days/ week at Detox Facility, 2 days/ week at Corporate)
