Job Summary:
Americo is looking to add a GAAP Financial Reporting Analyst to the team. The GAAP Financial Reporting Analyst will prepare and analyze financial statements using GAAP and STAT accounting basis along with providing support and training to other associates within the Financial Reporting Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements on a GAAP or STAT basis which includes preparing journal entries, updating financial statements, and verifying financial statements to supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial statements for variances between prior quarter and current plan.
- Prepare GAAP and/or STAT financial statements and supplemental information for filing with state insurance departments and territories, rating agencies, and external recipients.
- Knowledge of general ledger systems, ability to research issues via queries, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze managerial reporting documents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of GAAP and STAT accounting principles and reporting requirements as it applies to life insurance entities
- Experience with general ledger systems and ability to research general ledger entries
- Comprehension of life insurance concepts
- Strong financial analytical skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with data analytics (Microsoft Access, Power BI) a plus
- Accounting Degree is required, CPA. license preferred
Education:
- Four-year college education
- CPA Preferred
