What are the responsibilities and job description for the 24-25 WRC Madison Elementary (Olympia) Literacy Tutor position at AmeriCorps?
This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Madison Elementary in Olympia, Washington, is recruiting a Washington Reading Corps member for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are interested in gaining professional experience in schools and tutoring students in literacy full time, we are looking for you. If selected, you will collaborate with Madison's reading specialist to extend the literacy program at Madison, tutor small groups of students in reading throughout the school day, receive training in literacy, and plan family literacy events. This full-time position runs from September 2024 to July 2025. Madison is a warm and caring community. We are looking for applicants with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a desire to make a difference in the lives of kids. Member Duties : Madison is a small elementary school in Olympia, Washington. Many of our students come to school with barriers to learning. We want the best for our students, and sometimes this means that they need a little more time and attention to reach their goals. Washington Service Corps members will collaborate with our reading specialist to help provide additional literacy opportunities to Madison students. Our WRC member will partner with our reading specialist to provide instruction to small groups of students throughout the day. They will assess student progress so they can adapt their instruction to meet student needs. They will plan and present family literacy events to facilitate positive reading experiences between children and their families. They will receive training in literacy instruction.
