What are the responsibilities and job description for the CIS of GA AmeriCorps Foundations Tutorial Program position at AmeriCorps?
The CIS of GA AmeriCorps Foundations Tutorial Program provides an opportunity for committed members to engage in literacy and math tutoring activities that target students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. In addition to tutoring, the AmeriCorps Foundations Tutorial Program encourages the spirit of service by engaging members in leadership trainings, community service projects and recruiting volunteers for programs and/or projects. This approach builds on our history of success in communities throughout Georgia. Members serve in the following cities/counties: Albany/Dougherty, Milledgeville/Baldwin, Gibson/Glascock, Metter/Candler, Eastman/Dodge, LaGrange/Troup, Nashville/Berrien, Marietta/Cobb, Fitzgerald/Ben Hill, Athens/Clarke, and Waynesboro/Burke
Member Duties : Serve at least 25 hours each week providing one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in grades K-5. Collaborate with school staff to identify students for tutoring and determine materials for tutoring sessions. Recruit at least 3 community volunteers. Participate in trainings, meetings and other assignments as requested and allowed by the AmeriCorps program. Provide additional support to students in the classroom or in after school activities. Keep logs and records of student contact and prepare quarterly reports. Serve 900 hours during the 10 months of the program.
