What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting and Finance Intern position at Ameritas?
The Accounting & Finance (A&F) Intern role supports various areas of the Accounting & Finance Department at Ameritas including, but not limited to, investment and broker-dealer accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning and analysis. The A&F intern responsibilities include creating accounting journal entries, processing reconciliations, participation in special projects, preparing reports, developing and analyzing financial information, and compiling presentations. This role has exposure to day-to-day accounting and finance responsibilities and project work to move the business forward. The ideal candidate is on an Accounting and/or Finance track.

What You Do
- Create accounting entries for routine transactions.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
- Review quarterly financial statements by examining product line results, key metrics, and trends.
- Utilize financial databases for reporting and analysis.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including monthly and quarterly statements.
- Contribute to special projects or ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Working towards a 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance at a Sophomore or Junior status.
- Able to commit to a full year of work - part-time during the academic school year and full-time during the summer.
- PT includes 10-20 hours a week
- FT includes 30-40 hours a week
- Consistently demonstrates initiative and a professional, self-directed approach to responsibilities.
- Accepts additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Demonstrates effective time management when meeting deadlines, performs responsibilities with accuracy, and adapts to changing situations.
- Proven ability to work well and proactively communicate with all levels of management within the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Keen analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Extremely strong Microsoft Office technical skills.
