Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring material, products and process are in accordance with Andis specifications and requirements. The Quality Engineer drives continuous improvement and reduction of quality issues to position Andis as the Market Leader in quality.
Responsibilities
Product Qualification
-Responsible for helping to evaluate and qualify Andis Products
- Participate as quality SME in NPD project meetings.
- Acts as a liaison between Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Regulatory, Production, Sales, and Service to ensure product conformance and customer satisfaction.
- Supports Product Engineering and Production during NPD to ensure successful transition of products and processes from design to production.
- Develops and initiates quality plans and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Participate in engineering and verification builds. Own completion of quality testing and documentation that supports each build.
- Complete finished good PAPP approval process for new products, and process changes.
Product Evaluation
-Responsible for developing and improving product and processes
- Evaluates precision and accuracy of production, testing, and measurement equipment.
- Research and implement advanced testing and measurement equipment. Program equipment and design gauges.
- Performs and establishes criteria for gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
- Lead process improvement projects using statistical tools including but not limited to: SPC, CPK, Histograms, Run Charts, Design of Experiments, Anova Tables, etc.
- Design and implement new processes. Write and maintain standard operating procedures
Production Support
-Responsible for supporting production and leading quality investigations
- Support Quality Technicians as needed. Provide direction for NCMR initiation. Where appropriate, provide disposition of non-conforming material in a timely, economical manner.
- Lead and drive quality issues to closure with proper urgency to minimize impact to production. Lead technical meetings and investigations.
- Lead Corrective Action Request (CAR) activities and complete follow-up evaluations to determine completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Gather and analyze test and measurement data to make recommendations for adjustments to product design, manufacturing process and equipment, and quality procedures.
General
-Responsible for coaching and training associates
- Upholds Andis Core Values of Excellence, Integrity, and Respect in all work-related activities.
- Assist with coaching and mentoring Quality Technicians and other engineers to develop their skills
- May be trained as an internal auditor and perform internal audits.
- Train new associates on quality tools, processes, and equipment
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree (B. A. /B.S.) from four-year College or university with 4 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced understanding and demonstrated use of quality tools, principles, and standard problem-solving techniques such as: A3, 8D, Pareto Charts, Trend Charts, Fishbone, FMEA,
- Statistical Process Techniques, Failure Analysis, and Process Validation experience
- Advanced PPAP and APQP experience
- Strong Project Management Skills
- Lean/6 Sigma background preferred
- Proficient in Solidworks
- ISO 9001 knowledge and experience preferred
