Anser Public Charter will be hiring behavior interventionists that have: -an abundance of flexibility and patience -a desire to help children develop skills and adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance in an inclusive setting -an ability to learn from and share with others as a member of an energetic team, strong verbal and written communication skills, and -the heart of a teacher We are recruiting for part-time or full time positions. Final schedules will be drawn up when candidates are offered a position. A successful candidate will work with students in grades K-8. Desired skills: Include but are not limited to the ability to, work under the direction of a teacher, support and manage challenging behaviors, support students in the general education classroom, modify class work to increase accessibility of content and plan for and implement small group instruction. Duties and responsibilities: Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior Supervise students during lunch or recess, as well as in between classes or on field trips Continually supervise assigned students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive. Attend to students physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs Tracking students progress and preparing reports Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class Supports teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom Provides small group and/or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the students’ IEP and the supervising teacher’s lesson plans Collects instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught for each student Implements Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilities Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and conversations with parents Responds to emails and phone calls from school leaders and teachers in a timely manner Assists during standardized testing to support state and local testing processes and policies When in a school-based learning environment, monitors students' movement throughout the building to other classrooms, learning areas and cafeteria Assists administrators and other staff members in the orderly, expedient and safe transition of students from one location to another Assists students with assistive technology devices, including communication devices, switches and orthopedic devices needed for sitting, walking, or standing Engages in professional learning opportunities in-person Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours Under the supervision and guidance of the Special Education Department and/or Behavior Intervention Specialist Complete monthly training Possesses strong collaboration skills and participates as a member of an innovative and creative team open to ideas that best meet the needs of students. Shares responsibility for accomplishing goals, attending faculty and committee meetings as required and/or needed. Is evaluated by the Education Director Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative Follow the Anser Employee Handbook and abide by the expectations set forth in Qualifications: 1. Idaho Standard Instruction Certificate who meets qualifications for an endorsement specific to special education as defined in IDAPA 08.02.02 OR Habilitative Intervention Certificate of Completion (HI COC) in Idaho Prior to July 1, 2019 and does not have a gap of more than 3 years of employment as an intervention specialist OR Bachelor’s degree in a human services field* OR Bachelor’s degree and 24 semester credits in a human services field*. 2. Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in a behavior setting. 3. Emotionally mature and stable. 4. Pass a criminal history background check. 5. Able to perform assigned tasks. 6. Ability to work with students, staff, parents and the public. 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Human services field includes: Human Service, Family Relations/Family and Child Services, Counseling (General, MH, Vocational, Pastoral, Rehabilitation) and Guidance, Psychology, Nursing, Education/Special Education, Sociology, Child Development/Human Development, Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology/Communication Disorders, Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, Music Therapy, Behavioral Sciences/ABA.
