What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at Apt?
Our Client is looking for a Network Administrator/Engineer that will be based out of our Tuscaloosa, AL office. They will be a member of a team that works directly with The Client’s customers via phone and e-mail to respond to and resolve their service related issues. The position requires an individual with good verbal and written communication skills, who is self-motivated and is able to work in a fast paced dynamic environment.
Specific job duties entail:
- Answer incoming phone calls from The Client’s customers on their Internet and VoIP services
- Work with The Client’s customers via phone and e-mail to identify and resolve their service related issues
- Clearly document all steps taken to identify and resolve a customer reported issue
- Install and configure Solaris and Linux systems
- Maintain system standards and current operating systems
- Research, recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for systems administration tasks
- Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, system and key processes, review system and application logs, verify completion of scheduled jobs including backups
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
- Apply operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary
- Maintain operational configurations and procedures
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate must possess a B.S. degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications/training, or work experience
- JNCIA or CCNA required. JNCIP-SP preferred
- Juniper equipment experience and certifications will be highly valued.
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience is required
- Knowledge/experience with network protocols (specifically TCP/IP) and dynamic routing protocals (BGP, OSPF)
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills required
- Experience in programming languages used for scripting or automation of routine tasks such as shell, awk, perl, python.
- Availability to work on a shift including one Weekend day. (Flexibility a MUST)
Salary : $100,000 - $118,000
