Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing the company's overall business growth strategy, identifying and driving key partnership opportunities, new market entry, strategic alliances, and pre-merger and acquisition opportunities. This position typically reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or President and is a member of the company's core management team, bearing critical responsibility for the company's long-term growth and market competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Growth
Develop and drive the company's medium-to-long-term business development and growth strategies
Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and potential growth areas, and propose strategic business recommendations
Identify new markets, new products, new business models, and new revenue streams
Partnerships and Alliances
Lead the development and negotiation of strategic partnerships, business alliances, and key relationships
Build and maintain high-level relationships with key customers, partners, investors, and industry leaders
Represent the company in important business negotiations, industry conferences, and external collaboration activities
Market Entry and Expansion
Lead new market entry strategies (domestic and international), including market assessment, feasibility analysis, and implementation
Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, operations, and legal teams to ensure the successful implementation of collaborative projects
Mergers and Acquisitions Support
Participate in the preliminary screening, due diligence, and business evaluation of potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions
Collaborate with finance, legal, and external consultants to support transaction negotiation and execution
Team and Management
Build and manage a high-performing business development team
Set team goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and incentive mechanisms
Develop the team's strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field
MBA or relevant master's degree preferred
Work Experience
20 years of experience in business development, strategy, investment, sales, or related fields
At least 5 years of experience in a management or senior management position
Proven track record of successfully driving large-scale collaborative projects, market expansion, or strategic transactions
Skills and Abilities
Excellent strategic thinking and business judgment
Outstanding negotiation, communication, and high-level relationship management skills
Strong cross-functional coordination and project management abilities
Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, high-uncertainty environment
