ARISE SEXUAL ASSAULT SERVICES: CONTRACT ON-CALL ADVOCATE JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Advocacy Director
Position Location: Portales, New Mexico
Remote Hybrid: This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is currently FT or PT
employed and lives near Portales, NM.
This is a contract position (1099) dependent on grant funding. This position is guaranteed until June 30, 2025, and will be considered for renewal based on grant availability.
Arise serves seven counties in Eastern New Mexico: Roosevelt, Curry, DeBaca, Harding, Quay, and Union
POSITION FUNCTION AND OVERVIEW:
The Contract On-Call Advocate serves as an advocate for services for survivors of sexual
assault. Arise will provide 80 hours of paid training. Once trained, the On-Call Advocate will be put in rotation to staff the sexual assault crisis line. This is a contract position (1099).
Pay:
● 80 hours of paid training @ $16.00/hr ($17.00/hr if a Spanish speaker)
● 96 hours on-call @ $3.00/hr paid monthly (estimated)
● 4 hours to escort a client @ $16.00/hr paid (estimated)
● Mandatory 2-hour monthly advocacy meeting @ $16.00/hr
● Paid Mileage to assist survivors
Community Advocacy / On Call
● Works staff on-call rotation to cover staff phone for the 24-hour sexual assault crisis
hotline and assists with the hotline
● Onboards clients efficiently and accurately, obtaining appropriate information,
completing all required forms
● Enters relevant information into our computer system
● Advises clients of their community resources available for current needs and future
follow-up care to include concerns about food, shelter, transportation, literacy, utility
assistance, education, welfare, SNAP, applying & re-certifying for Medicaid, food box
referrals, spiritual needs, cell phone applications through insurance, clothing assistance,
hygiene assistance, non-covered prescription assistance, rental assistance, medical
equipment, etc.
● As needed, provides advocacy for SANE exams
● Explains criminal justice procedures and options

Qualifications
● Highschool or equivalent, some college or associate's degree, preferred
● Experience working in human services or nonprofit preferred
● Spanish speaking preferred
● Ability to work independently
● The ability to plan, organize and use time efficiently

***Position may require travel to and from Portales Office to various satellite locations
