Position Summary:
The Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages at Arkansas State University seeks to hire a temporary instructor of English to begin in Fall 2024, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Teaching assignments will typically include general education courses such as Composition I and II. This is a non-renewable one-year appointment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teaching load is 5 courses per semester.
- Other duties include attendance at occasional departmental meetings and events
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
We are seeking a dynamic, qualified colleague with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds in the study of English and literature in English
We are especially interested in applicants from groups traditionally underrepresented in academia
General Days/Hours:
Either on a MWF or TR teaching schedule
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Arkansas State University serves approximately 14,000 students at its main campus in Jonesboro. The university is committed to quality teaching, including small class sizes, and well-equipped classrooms. It has the largest library in the Arkansas State University System. Jonesboro is an agricultural and industrial city in northeast Arkansas, about 70 miles from Memphis.

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned M.A. or MFA appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate study in English; a Ph.D. or ABD status would be an advantage

Salary : $39,400 - $49,900
