Are you interested in a fast-paced Human Resources environment providing high quality service to a public safety organization? This opportunity might be for you! The Arlington County Sheriff's Office is hiring for a Human Resources Administrative Specialist. This position provides technical and administrative support to a 260 staffed Sheriff's Office, primarily comprised of uniformed law enforcement professionals. Duties include a wide range of tasks related to supporting timekeeping, payroll, recruiting, onboarding, human resources file management, and special projects.
Major Duties include:

Recruitment/Onboarding:
- Provides technical and administrative support to the recruiting and onboarding processes to include assisting with writing job announcements, coordinating interviews and interview panels, and assisting with new hire orientation;
- Coordinates identification/access cards for new hires; and
- Oversees and assists entry-level testing events and job fairs.

Payroll:
- Manages and coordinates the Sheriff's Office timekeeping and payroll activities;
- Audits time reports to ensure accuracy of entries in accordance with applicable rules; and
- Performs payroll corrections.

Records Management:
- Maintains current and former employee records;
- Assists with Human Resources Management System (HRMS) entries for employment status changes such as hires, terminations, transfers, special pays and promotions; and

Prepares employee notifications of status changes.
Employee must be in permanent or limited term status and completed a competitive process with Arlington County Government.
Minimum:
- Some college coursework in human resources management, business administration, public administration or a related field; and
- Considerable experience in human resources work in either a private, public or governmental environment.
Desirable: Preference given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Human resources within a public safety environment;
- Timekeeping activities involving shift workers and/or complex schedules;
- Prior experience coordinating recruitment events; and/or
- Researching and communicating solutions for payroll and policy questions.
Candidates must agree to the completion of a background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office. This investigation includes completing a thorough background questionnaire, participating in a background interview, successful completion of a polygraph examination, and partaking in a drug screening test.
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am and 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend hours. This position is onsite and requires the incumbent to work from the office.
