Bookmobile Driver

Our customers can experience the same amazing service out in the community as they enjoy inside the library! This Bookmobile Driver role will engage with the community by delivering services throughout Arlington Heights. 

Job Description

• Provide friendly, helpful assistance to internal and external customers.
• Drives bookmobile and other library vehicles, performs and records pre-trip vehicle inspection. Reports and troubleshoots any potential mechanical difficulties. 
• Responsible for daily bookmobile operations, including safety of vehicle, staff and customers. 
• Ensures all necessary materials are ready and available for daily operation of bookmobile.
• Proactively engage with customers and assist in creating or managing their accounts for use of library materials. Assist customers in locating, reserving and checking materials in/out.
• Ensures all necessary materials are ready and available for daily operation of bookmobile.
• Assist in moving and sorting materials between library locations.

Requirements & Skills

• Has a class “B” commercial driver’s license (CDL).
• Current valid Commercial Driver's License & driving record in good standing.
• Previous customer service experience required.
• Excellent attention and ability to work with confidential information.
• The preferred candidate must also demonstrate ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA.
• Ability to communicates clearly and use various technologies to complete work.

Education:  High School diploma/GED or equivalent applicable work experience.  

Hours and Scheduling:  Full time position 37.5 hours/week.  Primarily Monday-Friday afternoon/evening shifts and occasional weekend shifts.
