Job Description:
Staff Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment reconciliation.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to ensure proper funding.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings, audits, and other compliance-related activities.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper coding and classification of expenses.
- Provide support for internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Continuously improve processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- CPA or working towards CPA certification is a plus but not required.
