What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jewish Life Educator position at Arthur I Meyer Jewish Preparatory?
The Jewish Life Educator brings ruach (spirit) and depth to Jewish life across campus, creating a vibrant JrK–8th grade experience where students explore Jewish traditions with curiosity, respect, and openness to diverse perspectives.
1. Educational Programming:
- Implement dynamic, inclusive Judaic studies programs for students for JrK - 8th grade.
- Facilitate Jewish learning opportunities, including holiday celebrations and cultural events.
- Foster an environment where students explore various Jewish traditions, texts, and practices with respect and curiosity, embracing diverse opinions from throughout the Jewish world.
- Teach across age groups, adapting to students’ developmental needs
2. Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students, faculty, and parents.
- Support the general studies faculty in incorporating Jewish values and perspectives into their teaching practices.
3. Student Support and Development:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students in their Jewish journeys.
- Facilitate student-led initiatives that promote Jewish identity, leadership, and service.
- Facilitate meaningful connections among students from diverse Jewish backgrounds.
4. Professional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Judaics faculty to align curricular goals and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with trends in Jewish education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, or related field (required)
- Experience in experiential or formal Jewish education (required)
- Familiarity with diverse Jewish traditions and practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and passion for engaging students in Jewish life
