How you’ll contribute
The Rehabilitation Scheduler performs a range of clerical duties related to the support of operations of the unit including scheduling, registering, authorizing and communicating about patients with providers, updating and organizing information in the department and responding to inquiries and requests from patients, visitors and providers.
- Answer the telephone in a professional manner, makes appointments and directs calls or takes messages.
- Performs all clerical and computer functions to support patient care delivery. Coordinates daily patient flow activities. Stocks department with office and maintain inventory
- Distributes and explains forms, documents and educational handouts to patients and family members. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
- Schedules patient appointments for rehabilitation services. Facilitates communication among providers, patients and visitors to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Registers patients to ensure that all necessary demographic, billing and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
- Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, copying, faxing, and responding to incoming work requests.
- Verifies insurance benefits and preauthorization for rehabilitation services. Works with insurance companies, billing personnel, providers and patients regarding insurance coverage. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles or refers to financial counselor for follow up.
- Communicate with physician offices and other appropriate personnel regarding the patient to exchange necessary information and determine services needed.

Qualifications and requirements
Education: High School diploma
Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
