What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Training position at AT-RISK International?
DESCRIPTION
Through the creation, development, improvement and delivery of AT-RISK training services, this position contributes to company efforts to enhance our clients’ level of knowledge, preparedness, and responsiveness to a wide variety of security issues.
The position may also contribute to providing consulting services surrounding operational threat assessment and threat management and executive protection guidance and participates in investigative activities. The position requires the successful candidate to proactively engage with a broad range of stakeholders over a large geographical range.
The candidate selected must understand security and violence prevention in the context of both corporate security and public safety. The position requires that the individual be and stay informed of current security industry trends and corresponding external resources which support the training initiatives and will proactively stay connected to applicable thought leadership.
DUTIES
- Assist in implementing company goals for AT-RISK internal professional development and client-facing training programs, including but not limited to:
- curriculum development across a variety of security topics and in several learning modalities (in-person, on-demand, virtual live, and asynchronous options),
- manage learning management system,
- quality control of curriculum, resources, and training attendance records,
- manage AT-RISK and partner instructor cadre,
- develop and maintain client relationships
- Be a high-energy, accountable self-starter who independently initiates training program ideas and implements goals.
- Be a positive team player to integrate independent ideas with company vision.
- Provide leadership for training center initiatives, requirements, personnel and partners.
- Collaborate with AT-RISK stakeholders for training program implementation and sustainment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design and plan the operation for an in-person and virtual training center
- Identify and document a tiered approach to course work, as appropriate
- Develop course content and all material for each of the planned tiers
- Teach classes and provide training through AT-RISK and/or partner instructors
- Provide input in leveraged technology to produce training content for remote audiences and attendees, to include populating AT-RISK’s LMS with training library.
- Participate in networking and exhibition events partnered with the marketing team to engage new attendees
- Assist in conducting periodic and annual reviews of all training materials and update them as necessary
- Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the training program using established department metrics, system data, and customer feedback
- Assist in expanding the training program’s scope through strategic partnerships
- Ensure training programs and materials comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and certifications
- Develop and produce thought leadership content, in coordination with marketing, including blogs, articles, social media posts, and promotional materials.
- Consistently update Salesforce with relevant prospect, client, and project data, including detailed notes and accurate data fields, to maintain up-to-date records and support accurate reporting.

- Technically savvy and experienced in the areas of virtual communications and video production.
- Comfort with public speaking and presentations.
- Ability to adjust communications skills to apply to diverse audiences (i.e. Must be able to adjust communication styles seamlessly across a variety of audiences. For example, executives, high net worth families, corporations, schools, staff workers)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience preparing course material and successfully instructing application of executive protection principles and other security topics as applied in operational environments.
- Successful candidate must possess requisite experience of 7 years related experience developing executive protection plans and providing executive protection or security training and have awareness of threat management and security programs.
- Has extensive experience practicing and instructing all levels of Executive Protection, and has experience and/or awareness in Investigations, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, Security Consulting.
- BONUS, but not required: Certified Threat Manager (CTM), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or other certifications are a plus but not required.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Job may require standing, sitting, and moving for extended periods of time. Exposure to extreme environmental conditions occurs occasionally. Employee will be required to travel and occasionally maintain an atypical work schedule. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
