Position Overview
The Director of Restaurants is a service-oriented leader with experience in providing high-level dining experiences within a dynamic hospitality environment. This role possesses strong restaurant management credentials along with the ability to effectively communicate team goals and objectives. This includes verifiable leadership qualities with the demonstrated ability to direct, coordinate, and lead all facets of club restaurant and bar operations with strengths in servant leadership and emotional intelligence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for the culture and performance of the Club’s restaurants and dining areas.
- Monitor service levels and department expenses associated with restaurant and bar operations.
- Respond to member needs, issues, and comments to ensure a positive experience.
- Assure the appropriate opening procedures are followed for the entire service team.
- Assume an active role in the selection and training of team members in coordination with HR.
- Ensure the appropriate opening and closing procedures are following by staff.
- Lead department scheduling and payroll for restaurant and bar operations.
- Monitor and audit POS systems for all food service venues to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Inspect work areas to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and operational standards are consistently met.
- Help plan external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the food and beverage department.
- Ensure that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages; assures that all applicable club policies and procedures are followed.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Able to build and maintain positive working relationships with members, employees and vendors.
- Must be able to work in an indoor or outdoor food and beverage environment in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds regularly, to store food and drink supplies.
Education:
- A degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Prior experience as restaurant general manager in the food and beverage industry.
- Two or more years of experience working with or managing a service team in a high volume upscale atmosphere.
- Must hold certification in food safety through ServSafe or similar accredited institution.
- Must be continuously certified in the intervention training for the responsible sale, service and use of alcohol. (TIPS or related certification).
