- Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has an immediate opening for a full time WORKERS COMPENSATION COORDINATOR in our Portsmouth, NH office._ This position is on-site_.
Position Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for managing all aspects of our worker’s comp line of business including, but not limited to: Intake, forms completion and submission, submission and follow up of prior approval requests for surgeries, diagnostic testing and office visits, telephone communications including negotiations with patients, adjusters, case managers and other internal and external contacts, timely claims submission (electronic and paper), and AR follow-up on unpaid claims
· Answer calls as part of business office phone queue from patients, insurances, referring physician offices, etc.
- Posting of insurance and patient payments.
- Process refund requests from patients and insurance carriers.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Other departmental duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager when needed.
Position Requirements
Licenses or Certificates: N/A. Billing/coding certificate or special training a plus.
Education, vocational training, and experience:
· High School diploma or equivalent – Associates or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred
· Intermediate to advanced computer and data entry skills
· Minimum two years’ experience with same employer in the medical field in an administrative support role
· Basic coding knowledge including CPT and ICD-10
· Orthopaedic specialty experience is a plus
· Previous experience with worker’s comp intake, claims submission, negotiations and AR is a plus

· Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Able to understand and work with fractions and decimals. Ability to understand the relationship between data elements and ability to use numerical data to formulate and implement strategies
· College-level writing abilities
· Excellent critical thinking skills that support efficient and effective AR management
· Must be highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task
· Prior experience using P2P, Allscripts PM and/or Phoenix Ortho is a plus
· Must pass pre-screening skills assessment
· Must be highly motivated to achieve performance goals as set by management
