POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping/Warehouse Manager is responsible for the warehousing, inventory, and distribution functions to provide service levels that meets or exceeds customer expectations at the lowest possible costs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned)
- Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas' safety policies and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety and housekeeping. Know and communicate safety message with focus on developing zero injury culture.
- Recruit, interview, and select staff that have the right technical abilities and skills. Support and sustain a culture where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation, and effective utilization of resources. Ensure workforce is trained in respective job duties.
. Direct department supervisor and lead in creating, maintaining, and enforcing Shipping and Receiving policies and procedures.
. Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics, and customer.
. Negotiate with suppliers and customers to improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
. Plan appropriate warehouse layout design to maximize storage while maintaining a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with Sales to assure on time delivery, to avoid late fines.
- Oversee completion of all bills of ladings and other shipping documents through PeopleSoft.
- Supervise all shipping personnel, to maintain the most effective methods of shipment of finished goods and the receipt and storage of raw materials.
- Schedule the maintenance of lease forklift fleet.
- Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service/carrier logs, and/or training records for the department.
- Assist in monthly physical inventory of finished products and reconcile warehouse inventory variances.
- Work closely with the Account Executives and other managers, to assure the highest degree of Customer Satisfaction, Quality and Efficiencies.
- Compile information and prepare various reports and records.
- Manage the pick and pull process to stage loads, send ASN, sticker shipments to comply with customer requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field from a 4-year college perferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, preferably in logistics.
- Previous supervisory experience is desired.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is desired.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, includes, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English, includes, ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to bring about consensus in areas of conflict.
- Knowledge of materials and inventory control practices, production scheduling, and engineering in a manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Manufacturing/Warehouse environment: extreme cold and heat; wet and/or humid conditions; and, exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to occasionally push, pull, grip, reach, feel, squat, bend, and reach.
- Must be able to continuously climb and descend stairs safely (applies to sites with stairs)
- Must be able to work at heights.
