Job Summary | The College of Engineering's Civil and Environmental Department is accepting applications for an Engineering Technician at the Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory (ASEL). This position will perform work associated with laboratory and/or research equipment installation, fabrication, maintenance, and/or repair. This includes the setup of hydraulic actuators, structural steel testing frames, steel cutting, wood formwork assembly, and concrete placement. The Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory (ASEL) at Auburn University is a 45,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility for experimental characterization and performance testing of engineering materials, structural components, structural systems, geotechnical materials, and integrated soil-structure systems. The three areas of ASEL are the large-scale structural and geotechnical testing laboratory, concrete materials laboratory, and administrative wing. Why Should YOU Choose Auburn University?

Essential Functions | Instruct and assist students in ASEL procedures and use of test equipment. Collaborate with students and faculty for the design and execution of large-scale structural and geotechnical research projects. Fabricate research specimens (steel, concrete, and wood). Assemble test setups using an array of tools and equipment (e.g., crane, forklift, and scissor lift). Assist with installation of sensors and data acquisition systems. |

Level I: Associate's Degree - Coursework in Engineering related field. Level II: Associate's Degree - Coursework in Engineering related field plus 2 years of experience in the practices of assisting in engineering design and manufacturing. Level III: Associate's Degree - Coursework in Engineering related field plus 4 years of experience in the practices of assisting in engineering design and manufacturing. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent. Level IV: Associate's Degree - Coursework in Engineering related field plus 6 years of experience in the practices of assisting in engineering design and manufacturing. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent. Substitutions Allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
