Dryer Operator

SUMMARY

To dehydrate masa through the drier at optimum speeds and heat zones and to maintain a proper stein-particulate size along with an established moisture content.

B. DUTIES
The duties of this position are those described below. This job description does not state nor imply that the duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.

Essential Duties: These duties directly and substantially serve to achieve

the purpose of the position.

1. Ensure proper particle size and moisture content of stein material by setting stones and feed rates as related to lab results of stein meter and particle sieve tests.

2. Strive to meet goals by monitoring water retention and pH levels; by adjusting tower to proper zone for water retention goal and by adjusting washes to maintain pH goal.

3. Strive to achieve a flour moisture level within established range and maintain the sieve test within standards as established by Corporate Q.A. Department by monitoring Steinlite flour moisture tests which will directly relate to stein moisture analyses; by monitoring sieve test which will relate to stein particle size and moisture.

4. Monitor and note drier heat zones by monitoring drier charts and by noting any change of speeds or setting of dampers or adjustments to tower.

5. Ensure that blend back is returned to product flow at acceptable levels.

6. Ensure that the lab, stone deck area and floor in those areas are clean at the end of each shift.

7. Report any variances in run to Shift Supervisor immediately.

8. Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Constant walking, frequently climbing ladders, stairs, etc.

Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by the weather. Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch or level sufficient to require hearing protection. Exposure to constant or intermittent dusty area.

D. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience. Must have knowledge of lower production positions. Three months of drier operation under supervision of qualified personnel.
